Global Heritage Series Region: Latin America

A Perfect Union Art Gallery invites artists, poets, dancers, speakers, cultural vendors, and other creative participants to apply for "Herencia Unfolded", an exhibition and cultural celebration honoring the richness and diversity of Latin America and Latino communities.
Presented as part of the Gallery’s Global Heritage Series and in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, "Herencia Unfolded" explores the many layers of heritage that shape who we are.
“Herencia” means “heritage” in Spanish. To unfold our heritage is to examine the traditions, memories, struggles, triumphs, and inherited stories that help us understand ourselves and uncover our truths. This exhibition invites participants to consider how heritage is preserved, questioned, transformed, and carried forward across generations.
Submissions and presentations may explore themes such as:
- Cultural identity and belonging
- Family, ancestry, and generational memory
- Indigenous and diasporic influences
- Migration, displacement, and the immigrant experience
- Tradition and contemporary life
- Language, spirituality, folklore, and storytelling
- Cultural resilience, resistance, and renewal
- Music, dance, food, fashion, and celebration
- Personal interpretations of Latin American and Latino heritage
Who May Apply
We welcome emerging and established:
- Visual artists
- Poets and spoken-word performers
- Dancers and performing artists
- Cultural speakers and storytellers
- Artisans and cultural vendors
Artists and participants representing the many countries, cultures, and communities of Latin America and the wider Latino diaspora are encouraged to apply.

All artistic media are welcome, including but not limited to:
- Painting
- Sculpture
- Photography
- Mixed media
- Drawing and illustration
- Fiber and textile art
- Digital and multimedia art
- Installation
- Poetry and spoken word
- Dance and other cultural performances
